The City of Jamestown has scheduled a public input meeting to discuss planned improvements along 4th Avenue East, stretching from 10th Street Southeast to 5th Street Northeast. The meeting is set for Monday, October 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at City Hall, located at 102 3rd Ave. SE in Jamestown.
The session will use an open house format and focus on a range of proposed upgrades within the 13-block corridor. Planned work includes full-depth pavement reconstruction between 2nd Street Southeast and 2nd Street Northeast, with milling and overlay activities on other segments. Additional plans involve concrete pavement repairs under the BNSF viaduct and installation of new curb ramps that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Key intersections such as 4th Avenue East and 10th Street Southeast are slated for signal replacements, while visibility and safety improvements are targeted for the viaduct area through new end treatments.
The project also calls for changes to parking configurations on the reconstructed section between 2nd Street Southeast and 2nd Street Northeast, considering either maintaining diagonal parking or converting it to parallel parking. Other elements include sidewalk reconstruction, curb and gutter repairs, as well as drainage enhancements like a new catch basin.
City officials and representatives from Interstate Engineering will be present at the meeting to answer questions from residents.
Those unable to attend can access project materials on the city’s website at www.jamestownnd.gov/333/Public-Input-Meetings. Written comments regarding the project must be postmarked or emailed by November 11, 2025. Comments should reference “Public Input Meeting - PCN 24446” in their heading or subject line and be sent either to Ben Aaseth, Project Engineer at Interstate Engineering (PO Box 2035, Jamestown, ND 58401), or by email at ben.aaseth@interstateeng.com.
According to organizers: “The City of Jamestown will consider every request for reasonable accommodation to provide an accessible meeting facility or other accommodation for people with disabilities. Language interpretation and translations services will be available upon request for this meeting.”
