Motorists in Mandan, North Dakota, should expect a change in the traffic pattern on Memorial Highway starting Thursday, October 23. According to the North Dakota Department of Transportation, traffic will be redirected from the temporary roadway on the north side of Memorial Highway to a newly paved section on the south side. This shift is necessary so crews can install a new water main and begin paving work on the north side.

The department stated that drivers will see noticeable changes near the 46th Avenue SE intersection, where milling operations are scheduled to begin Thursday morning. Vehicles coming off the I94/Bismarck Expressway ramp from the north will only be able to head west onto Memorial Highway or east into Bismarck. For those heading southbound onto 46th Avenue SE, use of the McKenzie Drive exit is advised during this phase.

"The path for ramp traffic will change frequently while work at 46th Avenue SE continues," according to officials. Business approaches near 46th Avenue SE have been paved and will remain open as traffic adjusts to the new setup.

Flaggers will be present at several locations along Memorial Highway to help with the transition. The department reminded motorists: "Motorists are reminded to stay alert, watch for changing signage, and follow posted directions to help maintain safety for both drivers and crews during this phase of construction."
