Third and fourth grade educators across North Dakota now have a special opportunity to integrate agriculture into their classrooms through free agricultural literacy book bundles. This initiative is part of the celebrations for Ag Literacy Week, which will be held from March 17-21, 2025.
Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring is encouraging educators to take advantage of this opportunity, noting the importance of agricultural education in schools.
“I encourage educators to seize this opportunity to embed agriculture into their classrooms,” said Goehring. “By doing so, students will not only gain valuable insights into agriculture but also understand its significant relevance to their daily lives and studies.”
The initiative is open to the first 30 qualified educators who apply, and these teachers will receive the book bundle along with additional resources to enhance their teaching. The materials are designed to support the inclusion of agricultural topics into various lesson plans, helping to broaden students' understanding of this essential industry.
To participate, teachers must submit applications through the North Dakota Department of Agriculture’s website by the deadline of April 7, 2025. After receiving the materials, educators will be required to implement them in their classrooms and complete follow-up surveys by April 14, 2025, for reporting purposes. These surveys will help assess the impact of the program and guide future educational initiatives.
