Bismarck Public Schools has designated January as school board appreciation month to acknowledge the efforts of its board members. The announcement was made via a Facebook post on January 2, 2025.

According to Bismarck Public Schools, the Bismarck School Board comprises five members who serve four-year terms. They govern the district through a coherent governance model, with the superintendent acting as the CEO. Each board member, except for the president, manages a portfolio linked to strategic priorities such as operational, personal, learning, or environmental excellence. The board is accountable for student outcomes and promotes collaborative dialogue with stakeholders to align with the district's mission, vision, and core values of excellence, inclusion, innovation, and leadership.

The Bismarck School Board is led by President Dan Eastgate. Vice President Josh Hager oversees operational excellence. Other members include Jon Lee focusing on personal excellence; Donnell Preskey responsible for environmental excellence; and Amanda Peterson leading learning excellence. Dr. Jeff Fastnacht serves as the superintendent and CEO.
