The journey through college is often described as an adventure, with its own set of challenges and triumphs. To assist students in navigating this complex path, faculty and staff at DSU have offered valuable advice aimed at fostering success. The guidance ranges from seeking help when needed to stepping beyond one's comfort zone.
Rus Kiser, the Director of International Programs and Shooting Sports Coach, emphasizes the importance of exploring interests outside one's primary field of study. "Take a class or join a club that isn't in your degree," he advises. Kiser believes that engaging in activities unrelated to one's major can prevent burnout and potentially open new doors for future opportunities.
Marissa Schroeder, a Student Success Advisor, highlights the significance of seeking assistance during difficult times. She reassures students that support is readily available: "We all want you to succeed. Stop by the SOAR Center (May Hall 209) with any questions or concerns you may have." According to Schroeder, addressing uncertainties promptly is preferable to struggling alone.
