North Dakota Sen. John Hoeven said a recent court decision blocking the Biden administration from selling border wall materials is a crucial step in preventing further delays to construction and emphasized the importance of completing the border wall to combat drug and human trafficking.

“This decision helps ensure the Biden admin can’t slow border wall construction any further before Pres. Trump takes office,” Hoeven wrote in a Dec. 31 social media post on X. “We will continue working to secure funding to complete the border wall to help stop drug and human trafficking. Border security is national security.”

Attached to Hoeven's social media post was an article from National Review, reporting that a federal judge has ordered the Biden administration to cease the sale of border wall materials, following a lawsuit initiated by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

The court's decision mandates a 30-day suspension on further sales of these materials and requires the administration to provide documentation ensuring compliance with a prior ruling that obligates the use of allocated funds for border wall construction. This action comes after reports surfaced alleging that the administration had been discreetly removing and auctioning off components intended for the southern border wall, with some items reportedly sold at significantly reduced prices.

According to the New York Post, the court's ruling not only halts the sale of these materials but also emphasizes the necessity for transparency and adherence to legislative directives concerning border infrastructure projects.

The Biden administration must halt any further disposal of border wall materials for the next 30 days and furnish the court with documentation verifying compliance with existing legal obligations regarding the use of funds designated for border security. Failure to adhere to this order could result in sanctions or charges of contempt.

Sen. John Hoeven, a Republican, has served in the U.S. Senate since 2011. He previously served as North Dakota's governor from 2000 to 2010, making him one of the longest-serving governors in the state's history. He is a strong advocate for rural communities and American energy independence, leveraging his leadership roles on key Senate committees to advance these priorities.
