The Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library (BVMPL) has received the 2024 Future-Focused recognition from the North Dakota Library Coordinating Council and the North Dakota State Library. The announcement was made at the 2025 NDLA/SDLA/MPLA Tri-Conference in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

This recognition is given to libraries that meet a set of standards across three service levels: Developing, Excelling, and Future-Focused. These standards include criteria related to library programs, outreach efforts, local support, policy creation, budgeting practices, and adherence to professional norms. Libraries must fulfill all requirements at each level to be eligible for the distinction.

BVMPL is one of only four public libraries out of 84 statewide to receive this honor in 2024. The library has achieved this status multiple times, which organizers say demonstrates a consistent commitment to advancing services and engaging with the community.

Christine Kujawa, Director of BVMPL, said, “This recognition highlights our library’s dedication to providing exceptional service and fostering lifelong learning for all. We’re honored to be recognized among North Dakota’s leading public libraries.”
