Senator John Hoeven attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Minot North High School in Minot, North Dakota. The school opened on August 21, 2024, as part of a reconfiguration of Minot Public Schools. Hoeven had previously participated in the groundbreaking and praised city and school officials for addressing the educational needs of Minot's students.

“A quality education is the great equalizer, helping ensure young people have the skills they need to compete in the economy of the future and live a fulfilling life,” said Hoeven. “Not only does this new high school double the square footage of Minot High, it will also help double participation in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, meaning that more students will get opportunities to participate and learn. Congratulations to Superintendent Faul, former Superintendent Vollmer, Principal Johnson, and the community as a whole, who all worked together to make today’s achievement possible.”

In his role as a senator, Hoeven has focused on providing resources for preparing students for careers vital to both state and national economies. He is working on expanding access to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education through initiatives such as supporting the Student Support and Academic Enrichment program. This program helps school districts enhance their STEM education capacity. Additionally, Hoeven has cosponsored legislation aimed at broadening the National Science Foundation’s STEM education efforts for young children by establishing research grants to increase girls' participation in computer science.
