Senator John Hoeven, alongside Senator Joni Ernst and their 47 Republican colleagues, has introduced a resolution condemning Iran-backed Hamas for its actions. The resolution supports Israel's survival and calls for the release of American hostages. This initiative comes as a commemoration of the terrorist attacks that occurred on October 7, 2023.

“On the one-year anniversary of the attacks on Israel, we remain committed to standing with Israel in its efforts to fully defeat Hamas and stand up to its terrorist adversaries throughout the region. Israel is our strongest partner in the Middle East and this resolution reaffirms our support for this important ally,” said Hoeven.

Senator Ernst reflected on her experience from last year: “This time last year, I woke up in the Middle East to the unbearable news that Israel was under attack by Iran-backed terrorists and Americans were being killed and taken hostage,” she stated. Ernst emphasized her continuous efforts to hold the White House accountable for its commitments and work towards bringing hostages home while cutting off terrorism sources in Tehran. “One year since that day, as Israel remains under attack on all fronts, Senate Republicans stand united with our greatest ally in the Middle East.”

The Senate Republican Conference collectively opposes violent antisemitic protests and condemns Hamas' use of rape as a weapon of war. They affirm Israel's right to self-defense and stress preventing Hamas from regrouping in order to avoid repeating past tragedies.
