Senator John Hoeven released a statement following the Senate Democrats' decision to vote against a short-term continuing resolution (CR) intended to fund the government through November 21. The measure, described by Hoeven as "clean," would have maintained government funding at current levels and aimed to prevent a shutdown.
Hoeven stated, “This is a clean short-term CR that will prevent a government shutdown and keep government funded at current levels through November 21. We have three of the appropriations bills ready to go to conference and this CR will provide time to do that and help get us back to regular order.” He added, “The House has already approved this legislation and the President supports it. Senate Democrats should join with us on this short-term CR so we can keep government open and continue working on the appropriations bills.”
Hoeven emphasized that three appropriations bills are prepared for conference discussions, suggesting that passing the CR would allow lawmakers additional time to proceed with standard legislative processes.
