With less than a year remaining before the United States marks its 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026, the ND250 Commission has introduced a new logo to represent North Dakota’s participation in the national celebration. The badge-style ND250 logo incorporates state symbols such as the prairie horizon, rising sun, standing wheat, and western meadowlark. These elements are intended to reflect North Dakota’s landscapes and values. Organizations across the state are encouraged to use this logo for events related to ND250. Logo guidelines and downloadable files are available at ND250.com.
“ND250 is a moment for every community to reflect on what we’ve built together and where we go next,” said Bill Peterson, State Historical Society of North Dakota director and ND250 commission chair. “This logo represents not just our history, but also our hope for the raising of North Dakota’s voices in a national celebration of democracy.”
The launch of the logo comes as local communities begin preparations for America’s Semiquincentennial. Among those participating is Korri C., a tenth-grade student from Drake who was recognized as one of 150 national awardees in the America’s Field Trip contest—a nationwide initiative encouraging students to share their perspectives on America’s story. Korri earned second place with her submission addressing “What does America mean to you?” and will receive a $500 prize.
Additional plans underway in North Dakota include various community events such as the opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library and projects like the Red River Valley Genealogical Society’s Writings of Family History, Stories and Memories.
