As work continues on the Memorial Highway reconstruction project, traffic control measures at the intersection of 46th Ave SE are being updated. Officials have determined that the previous two-lane closure did not provide enough space for construction crews to safely complete underground utility and paving tasks. As a result, a full closure of certain movements at this intersection will be implemented starting Tuesday, August 26. This closure is expected to last until at least the week of September 22.
During this period, construction crews will focus on installing storm sewer systems, water mains, aggregate base, and paving in the affected area.
In related news for drivers, paving work on 21st Street SE is set to begin Monday, August 25. The street is scheduled to reopen to traffic by Tuesday, August 26. This reopening will offer drivers an additional route while detours around 46th Ave SE remain in place.
