Senator John Hoeven has introduced a resolution in the U.S. Senate to designate October 26th as the “Day of the Deployed.” The purpose of this resolution is to encourage Americans to remember and honor the service and sacrifice of those who are, or have been, deployed with the United States Armed Forces.

Hoeven first established the Day of the Deployed on October 26, 2006, during his tenure as Governor of North Dakota. Since becoming a senator, he has continued efforts to promote national recognition for deployed service members. According to recent figures, more than 2 million people currently serve in the U.S. Armed Forces across active duty, Guard, and Reserve units.

“Freedom isn’t free, and the Day of the Deployed is a reminder of the courage and sacrifice it takes to protect our country,” said Hoeven. “Every year on October 26, we recognize the men and women who leave the comforts of home to serve, and the families who support them with strength and dedication.”
