Senator John Hoeven attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Fargo, North Dakota, to celebrate the opening of a new parking ramp at Hector International Airport. The event brought together local, state, and federal officials and marks progress in a larger terminal expansion project aimed at meeting the needs of the growing Fargo-Moorhead area.
The overall expansion includes several upgrades: a new parking garage with an elevated walkway, an expanded terminal featuring nine gates, and improvements to apron space. The entire project is scheduled for completion in 2027.
Hoeven has played a role in securing funding for the project as part of his work on the Senate Transportation Appropriations Committee. So far, he has helped obtain $53 million in federal funds and continues efforts to secure an additional $17 million needed to fully finance the expansion.
“The Fargo region is growing fast, and that means more travelers, more flights, and more demand for modern infrastructure like this new parking ramp. With around 1,000 parking spaces, this garage is an important milestone in increasing the capacity of Hector International, complementing the ongoing terminal expansion,” said Hoeven. “Importantly, we’ve worked to secure $53 million in federal funding to advance this expansion, and we’re pushing to deliver the final $17 million needed to complete it. This investment will help Hector International keep pace with record traffic and support continued economic growth across the region.”
The improvements are intended to address increased passenger numbers and enhance services at Hector International Airport as regional growth continues.
