The North Dakota Industrial Commission has appointed Brandon Dettlaff as the new executive director of the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency (NDHFA). He will take over from Dave Flohr, who is set to retire on June 13.
Commission members stated, “Brandon has an excellent understanding of North Dakota’s affordable housing needs and has provided strong leadership as the head of North Dakota Housing Finance Agency’s homeownership division.” They highlighted his experience with the agency's housing programs and relationships in the housing and mortgage industries as key factors in their decision.
Dettlaff joined NDHFA in 2007 and became the homeownership director in May 2020. The division he led focuses on helping first-time buyers through education, down payment assistance, and affordable loans.
Expressing gratitude for his appointment, Dettlaff said, “I am grateful to the members of the Industrial Commission for putting their trust in me to lead the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency.” He also thanked his colleagues for their dedication to providing safe and affordable housing across North Dakota.
The commission also acknowledged Dave Flohr's 41 years of service to both NDHFA and the state.
NDHFA is a self-supporting agency aimed at making housing accessible for all residents. It not only aids homebuyers but also supports rental housing development for vulnerable groups such as low-wage workers, elderly, disabled individuals, and families experiencing homelessness.
