The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) is set to begin recurring lane closures on Interstate 94 as part of the ongoing repair project at the Red River Bridge in Fargo. The closures are scheduled to start during the week of May 12.
Crews will install temporary concrete barriers and prepare the bridge surface for new concrete. To reduce disruption, nightly lane closures will occur from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., limiting traffic to one lane in both directions. Once this initial work is completed, the bridge will be reduced to two lanes in each direction throughout the summer for resurfacing.
The I-94/Red River Structure repair project includes essential structural upgrades to the bridge connecting Fargo, North Dakota, and Moorhead, Minnesota. The project's goal is to enhance driving conditions, extend the bridge's lifespan, and improve safety with significant upgrades. Completion is expected by October 2025.
Motorists can expect additional traffic impacts during this period. More information is available at dot/nd.gov/I-94RedRiver.
"The North Dakota Department of Transportation would like to remind motorists to slow down and use caution throughout the work zone."
