Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak addressed the House Floor to commend the Minot community for being recognized as one of the 2025 Great American Defense Communities. This acknowledgment highlights Minot's dedication to supporting service members at Minot Air Force Base.
Fedorchak, representing North Dakota, will visit Minot Air Force Base on Friday. Her itinerary includes a tour of the base, learning about the SENTINEL project, and meeting with the 5th Bomb Wing.
In her prepared remarks, Fedorchak stated: "Mr. Speaker, I rise to recognize Minot, North Dakota—my husband's hometown—named one of the 2025 Great American Defense Communities."
She noted that only three cities nationwide received this distinction, emphasizing Minot's commitment to those stationed at the local air force base. She praised events like the Prairie Warrior Auction and initiatives by local leaders and organizations such as the Minot Area Chamber for their efforts in supporting airmen and their families.
"Whether it’s raising funds to send airmen home for the holidays or educating the nation on nuclear deterrence," she said, "Minot leads with pride and purpose." The city's motto is "Only the Best Come North."
Fedorchak concluded by congratulating Minot on its recognition and expressing gratitude for its continuous support of military personnel.
