U.S. Rep. Julie Fedorchak held her second statewide forum, engaging with nearly two thousand constituents. The discussion covered federal funding, tax policies, landowner rights, and the Farm Bill.
Fedorchak emphasized Republican efforts to address issues like spending, bureaucracy, and regulations. She stressed the importance of extending current tax policies to avoid a significant increase in tax rates if they expire in December.
Fedorchak praised President Trump's leadership on various national issues, including reversing regulations and tackling inflation. She encouraged patience from North Dakotans: “These problems won’t get fixed overnight,” she said.
Discussing the 2017 Trump tax cuts, Fedorchak warned against their expiration, citing potential increases in taxes for lower brackets and impacts on small businesses and farmers. She countered claims that these cuts only benefit the wealthy: “This is not just helping millionaires and billionaires.”
She highlighted concerns about rising national debt: “This is contributing to inflationary pressure... it’s not sustainable.” Fedorchak supports reforms for federal funding changes affecting North Dakota communities.
On trade, Fedorchak supported President Trump's efforts for fair trade deals: “We are part of a lot of bad trade deals.” She also advocated bringing jobs back from China to level the playing field.
Regarding the Farm Bill, Fedorchak seeks higher reference prices and better crop insurance. On landowners' rights, she introduced legislation with Rep. Hageman to cap conservation easements at 30 years.
Fedorchak discussed Medicaid reforms aimed at sustainability while protecting those in need. Reforms may include audits and work requirements for certain adults.
Addressing border security under Biden's administration, she cited negative impacts from ignoring laws during the previous administration.
On the Keystone pipeline leak, she expressed concerns over safety evaluations following discussions with South Bow executives.
Fedorchak plans regular forums to update constituents on her work in Washington D.C., with future events announced soon.
