The City of Bismarck has announced its Spring Cleanup Week for residential curbside collection from April 21 to April 24, 2025. During this time, residents can place their items for pickup on the regular scheduled garbage collection day. It is important to note that this will be the only curbside collection offered for the year, and all items must be out by 6:00 a.m.
Items should be placed at the normal collection points, and all garbage must be bagged. Loose materials need to be boxed or bagged. The city urges residents to separate items to facilitate recycling of metals, woods, and appliances. Collection will vary based on item type, and different equipment will be used to gather the cleanup materials.
Notably, tires will not be accepted during curbside collection. Tires can be taken to the landfill for disposal, but a fee will apply. Additionally, no hazardous waste or liquids should be placed with regular refuse. Such items should be taken to the Household Hazardous Waste Center during operating hours.
Apartment complexes need to place items for pickup at the designated collection point, but appliances and carpets will not be collected by crews.
Certain items will not be collected on the route, including chemicals, construction debris, dirt, hazardous waste, liquids, oil, and more. These items may be taken to the landfill, where disposal fees may apply. Hazardous waste can specifically be disposed of at the Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Center during regular hours.
The landfill operates Monday to Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., while the Hazardous Waste Center is open Mondays through Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on the first and third Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Bismarck residents can also enjoy free landfill disposal from April 21 to April 26, 2025. To avail of this service, proof of residence, such as a utility bill or a driver's license, will be required.
