North Dakota State University's (NDSU) Bison football team was honored this month at the White House by President Donald Trump for securing their 10th NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) title back in January, marking their 18th overall title in the past 14 years—an unmatched accomplishment in modern college football.

President Trump congratulated the team for its victory over the Montana State Bobcats 35–32, held in Frisco, Texas, on January 6, during a ceremony held on the White House South Lawn. He commended the Bison for their exceptional performance, strong team culture, and continued dominance in collegiate football.

“NDSU’s football program is one of the most successful in the country,” said President Trump. “Their commitment, discipline, and winning tradition set them apart. It’s an honor to welcome them back to the White House.”

Led by Head Coach Tim Polasek, the Bison capped off a remarkable season, continuing a legacy that has seen the team win 10 of the last 14 FCS titles. The team was joined at the White House by university officials, coaching staff, and key supporters, including Senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer.

Senator Cramer described the program as a “dynasty” and commended players for their hard work and both on and off the field.

Since 2011, the team has posted an impressive 186–21 record, including a 39-game winning streak from 2017 to 2021. The resolution also acknowledged the support of the Bison Nation and commemorated the victory as a major achievement for the university and the entire state of North Dakota.

During the visit, the team presented President Trump with a custom NDSU jersey and football. The players also had the opportunity to tour the White House and take photos on the South Lawn, commemorating the occasion.

“This is a tremendous honor not just for the players and coaches, but for the entire NDSU community and the state of North Dakota,” said Senator Hoeven. “We’re incredibly proud of what this team has accomplished, and it’s fitting they be recognized on a national stage.”

The senators, along with  Representative Julie Fedorchak, coordinated with President Trump for a White House visit to celebrate the win.

“In North Dakota, we take pride in our agriculture, our energy, and our North Dakota State University Bison,” said Representative Fedorchak in a March press release announcing the team's upcoming trip to the Capitol. “With 10 national championships in 14 years, NDSU represents nothing short of football dominance. Their unwavering commitment to excellence, teamwork, and resilience embodies the best of our state, and I’m thrilled to see them honored by President Trump at the White House.”

“Like President Trump, the Bison never get tired of winning,” Senator Cramer said according to the press release.

Back in January, Hoeven introduced a resolution with Cramer as a cosponsor, honoring the team for its title win. The resolution was accompanied by remarks on the Senate floor, where both senators highlighted the team’s continued success, this season’s strong performance, and the dedication shown by the players, coaches, staff, and community.
