The Bismarck-Mandan Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is embarking on a Safety Policy Study to enhance transportation safety in the region. The study aims to adopt the U.S. Department of Transportation's Safe System Approach, striving towards the Vision Zero initiative. This initiative focuses on eliminating or significantly reducing severe injuries and fatalities from transportation-related incidents.

The jurisdictions participating in this study include the City of Bismarck, the City of Mandan, the City of Lincoln, Burleigh County, and Morton County.

To gather public input, the MPO will host a session during the Bis-Man Earth Day Festival at the Bismarck Event Center. Admission to the event is free. Alternately, comments can be submitted in writing to Luke Champa at SRF Consulting Group, located on Vermont Avenue in Bismarck. The deadline for submitting feedback is May 31, 2025. Contributions can also be made through the project website.

The MPO ensures that the event will include accommodations for people with disabilities, language interpretation for individuals with limited English proficiency, and necessary translations of informative materials related to the MPO's programs.
