Williams County has introduced a new initiative aimed at promoting the construction and purchase of single-family homes. The Builder | Buyer Housing Incentive Program offers tax exemptions and financial assistance to builders and homebuyers in the county.
According to the details released, builders and homeowners situated outside city limits but within Williams County can seek property tax exemptions of up to $150,000 for new single-family homes. Within the entire county, builders may access up to $25,000 for infrastructure-related costs per home. Homebuyers can receive up to $15,000 to assist with closing costs and interest buy-down points. Additionally, both parties can request up to $5,000 for infrastructure connection fees, although there are restrictions based on home sale prices.
"By easing infrastructure costs for builders and lowering barriers for buyers, the County aims to increase the inventory of new homes and encourage the construction of affordable homes," the announcement stated.
The total financial assistance pool is $1.3 million, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications for the property tax exemption are currently open, while those for financial assistance begin on April 21, 2025.
