The City of Bismarck Roads & Streets Department is continuing its city-wide street sweeping program. The department plans to sweep streets as scheduled, weather permitting, until all residential areas are completed. Residents are thanked in advance for their cooperation.
Safety tips have been provided for the public's awareness during the street sweeping operations. It is noted that "street sweeping operations can be dangerous" due to potential hazards like stones and other flying debris. Parents are advised to keep children away from these operations, and motorists should exercise caution when passing street sweepers because "visibility may be restricted in sweeping areas due to dusty conditions."
Guidelines have also been issued for residents and businesses to facilitate smooth operations. People are asked to "keep vehicles and trailers off the street until sweepers are done in your area." Additionally, it is advised not to rake sand or debris from boulevards into the street or blow leaves or grass into the roadways. Grass clippings can block storm water systems; therefore, keeping them out of gutter lines and streets is essential.
The community's participation in these guidelines will help ensure a successful completion of the street sweeping program.
