Proposed constitutional initiative on public records submitted in North Dakota

Secretary of State Michael Howe announced the submission of a proposed petition for a constitutional initiative. The proposal, submitted for review and approval, addresses issues related to public records, legislative salaries, and lobbying.

Paul J. Sorum from Fargo, North Dakota is leading the sponsoring committee for this initiative. A copy of the proposed petition, including a list of committee members and a timeline for the process, has been made available.

The Secretary of State's office, along with the Attorney General, will have between five to seven business days to draft a title for the petition. This title must accurately represent the measure and be included in petitions circulated for signatures from qualified electors. The earliest date by which the petition title will be provided to the sponsoring committee is Monday, March 3, 2025, and no later than Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
