BISMARCK, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, criticized the Biden administration's handling of energy policies, particularly focusing on the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) methane rule.

In a statement, Senator Hoeven expressed his concerns, stating, "The Biden administration continues to put handcuffs on our domestic energy producers and this methane rule is one more example of how the administration is making it harder to develop oil and gas on federal lands and undermining our nation’s energy security."

Hoeven highlighted the impact of delayed infrastructure approvals on the energy sector, noting, "The Biden administration is holding up approvals for the infrastructure necessary to get energy to market, like gas-gathering lines and pipelines, which causes more flaring and methane waste."

Additionally, Senator Hoeven criticized the administration's stance on liquefied natural gas exports, stating, "At the same time, they are also blocking new liquefied natural gas exports to our friends and allies. That is the wrong approach for our nation."

Hoeven emphasized the importance of empowering energy development and streamlining infrastructure approval processes, stating, "Instead, we are working to empower energy development, and to expedite the approval of the infrastructure needed to move this valuable commodity to market for consumers at home and our allies abroad."

Senator Hoeven concluded by outlining the potential benefits of such actions, stating, “That’s how we’ll lower costs for American families and businesses, and make our nation more energy secure.”

Hoeven has been actively involved in efforts to promote U.S. domestic energy production and is sponsoring legislation aimed at providing regulatory relief in the federal permitting process, including initiatives to expedite reviews of natural gas pipeline and liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects.
