Bismarck residents will have another opportunity to dispose of household items at the city landfill free of charge during Landfill Free Disposal Week, scheduled for September 29 through October 4. The event is being offered again after unfavorable conditions affected participation during the previous week it was held.

Residents can bring items, including household hazardous waste and electronics, to the landfill without paying a fee. However, there will still be a charge for disposing of tires. To participate, residents must show either their most recent City of Bismarck utility bill or a valid driver’s license with a Bismarck address.

The Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Center will extend its hours from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm throughout the disposal week to accommodate more participants.

Regular landfill hours are Monday through Saturday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. The usual hours for the Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Center are 8:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on the first and third Saturday of each month.
