The Bismarck Historical Society is set to hold a program focused on the history of the Belle Mehus Auditorium. The event will take place on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the Belle Mehus Auditorium and will begin at 6:30 PM.
Presenters Susan Lundberg and Stephanie Delmore will discuss the origins and significance of Bismarck’s original Civic Auditorium. The presentation will highlight the legacy of Belle Mehus, a piano teacher from Bismarck for whom the auditorium is named. The facility first opened in 1914 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. After the talk, staff from the Bismarck Event Center will lead attendees on a tour of the building.
According to organizers, “The topic of this presentation is ‘History of the Belle Mehus Auditorium’. Presenters Susan Lundberg and Stephanie Delmore will share the rich history of Bismarck’s original Civic Auditorium, the legacy of Belle Mehus and the arts in Bismarck. Mehus was a piano teacher from Bismarck, who became the namesake of the auditorium which held its first performance in 1914 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A tour of the facility will follow the presentation, led by Bismarck Event Center staff.”
