A section of Miriam Avenue, located east of Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway in Bismarck, will close starting the first week of September. The closure is part of the ongoing Interstate 94 Exit 161 Interchange project. During this period, access will be available to the west, and a detour will direct traffic via Revere Drive and Hancock Drive.
The closure will stay in place until concrete work in the area is finished. Lane closures are also continuing on Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway. Additionally, the City of Bismarck plans to close a portion of Divide Avenue nearby during this time.
Businesses in the affected area will remain open throughout the construction. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes, especially those heading to destinations such as the landfill or locations east of Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway.
Motorists are advised to follow posted signs and remain alert for workers and equipment within the construction zone.
The I-94 Exit 161 Interchange project began in spring 2024 and is expected to continue through summer 2026. The goal is to improve traffic flow by removing two left-turn movements and adding right-turn loops for more efficient travel. "NDDOT appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as this essential infrastructure project moves forward."
