Bismarck city offices and the landfill will be closed on Monday, September 1 for the Labor Day holiday. There will be no garbage or curbside recycling collection on that day, affecting the gold route.
The city announced that all garbage and recycling routes scheduled from Monday through Thursday will be delayed by one day during the holiday week. For example, Monday’s route will be collected on Tuesday, Tuesday’s on Wednesday, and so forth. Residents are reminded to set out their garbage and recycling by 6:00 a.m. on their collection day or the evening before. Crews will not return to addresses where items were not placed out in time for initial pickup.
Landfill hours during the holiday week are adjusted as well. The landfill will remain closed on Monday, September 1, but will operate from Tuesday through Saturday between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
The Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Center is also closed on Labor Day. It will reopen Tuesday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Bismarck residents can take advantage of free landfill disposal—including household hazardous waste and electronics—the week of September 15-20. Proof of residency such as a recent City of Bismarck utility bill or valid driver’s license with a Bismarck address is required for free disposal during this period; however, there is still a cost to dispose of tires.
