Knife River Corporation has provided an update on the ongoing reconstruction of East Century Avenue. The project, which aims to improve traffic flow and safety in the area, is progressing as scheduled.

According to the company, gravel travel is now only needed for vehicles entering or exiting at Stonewall Drive. In the coming days, traffic that currently uses Stonewall Drive will be redirected to Roosevelt Drive. This change will allow crews to prepare Stonewall Drive for paving and connect it smoothly with the nearby intersection.

Paving has been completed on the section starting just east of Stonewall Drive and extending beyond Roosevelt Drive. Concrete work is underway at the northwest tie-in to existing Century Avenue, as well as at sidewalks and intersections along Greensboro Drive, Stonewall Drive, and Roosevelt Drive. A major paving operation was planned for Saturday, August 2.

The corporation stated that they are on track to open the section of roadway from the western project limit to Roosevelt Drive shortly after school resumes for the year. Work west of Roosevelt Drive remains a top priority, while construction efforts eastward—including underground infrastructure—are set to begin once milestones in the current area are met.

Andrew Osborn, Public Relations Coordinator for Knife River Corporation, said: "We know that roadwork can be an inconvenience, and we truly appreciate your patience and support as we move through this phase of improvements. These upgrades are designed to enhance safety, ease traffic flow, and better serve everyone who lives, works, and travels through our communities."

Residents with questions or concerns about the project are encouraged to contact Andrew Osborn by email or phone.
