Moore Engineering has started a citywide tree inventory in Mandan, focusing on City-owned property and public rights-of-way. The project began on August 3, 2025, and is expected to conclude by October 2025. The majority of the work will take place in residential areas, but trees located on private property are not included in the inventory.
The goal of the project is to collect data about the species, sizes, and conditions of existing trees. According to officials, this information will help the City identify hazardous trees that may need removal, detect diseased or pest-infested trees, and support planning for future plantings and development.
Field staff from Moore Engineering will be present periodically throughout the duration of the project. They will be identifiable by their high-visibility vests while working. Some trees may have a tag with an ID number attached; these tags are for inventory purposes only and do not indicate whether a tree will be saved or removed.
