HHS seeks input on Medicaid waiver aiding disabled North Dakotans

Public comments are being sought by the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on a proposed Medicaid waiver amendment. This amendment aims to assist individuals with physical disabilities in living at home within their communities.

The draft waiver amendment is available for viewing online at hhs.nd.gov/waivers, and copies can be requested. Comments can be submitted to the North Dakota Health and Human Services – Adult and Aging Services Section, Attn: HCBS, 1237 W. Divide Ave., Suite 6, Bismarck, N.D., 58501. Submissions are also accepted via email at dhshcbs@nd.gov or by calling toll-free 855-462-5465 or 711 (TTY).

North Dakotans seeking assistance with accessing Medicaid waiver services and other long-term support services can reach out to the state’s Aging and Disability Resource Link toll-free at 855-462-5465, 711 (TTY), or via email at carechoice@nd.gov. Applications for these services can also be made online through carechoice.nd.assistguide.net.

Once the public comment period concludes, the waiver will be submitted to the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The expected effective date for the waiver amendment is January 1, 2026.
