The Mankato MoonDogs secured a 4-2 victory over the Bismarck Larks on Monday night, completing a series sweep. The game saw early action with Tony Lira driving in Cannon Peery from second base in the top of the second inning. Brandon Vlcko added another run with a groundout.
The Larks attempted to rally in the bottom of the second inning by loading the bases without any outs. Cristian Bernardini managed to score one run on a ground ball but remained safe at first due to an error by Connor Cuff. However, Kingston Hangartner hit into a double play, halting their momentum.
MoonDogs' pitcher Evan Hughes delivered an impressive performance, pitching five innings and striking out seven while allowing just one run on four hits. “I wanted to focus on controlling my pitches,” said Hughes. “I didn’t want to overthink it, and I tried to make them beat me.” His control was evident as he allowed only one walk during his time on the mound.
