North Dakota opens grants to boost tourism and community projects

The North Dakota Department of Commerce has announced the opening of the 2025 Tourism and Community Enhancement Grants. These grants are intended to enhance tourism, community infrastructure, and historic preservation throughout the state. Funded by the 69th Legislative Assembly, they aim to support projects that will improve experiences for both visitors and residents in North Dakota.

Several grant opportunities have been outlined:

- The Historic Opera House Restoration Grant offers $250,000 for restoring a historic opera house built before 1930.

- The Medora Transportation Improvement Grant provides $1 million to develop and operate a public transportation system in Medora, North Dakota.

- A Community Hall Grant of $175,000 is available for improving multi-function community halls in rural areas.

- The Historic Theater Restoration Matching Grant allocates $500,000 for restoring operational historic theaters built before 1930.

- The Historic Theater Improvement Grant offers $250,000 for restoring theaters that previously served as entertainment hubs.

- A State Magazine Grant of $250,000 is designated for publishers of official state magazines showcasing North Dakota.

Applications are open from July 22 through September 1, 2025. Eligible organizations must submit an application letter electronically by September 1 at 5 p.m. CDT to McKenzie Clayburgh at clayburghmckenzie@nd.gov.
