Senator John Hoeven has announced that Ward County will receive $4,050,000 for the Minot corridor project. The funding comes from the Department of Transportation’s Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant program. This grant is intended for planning and designing three road corridors and their intersections. The aim is to provide alternative routes for emergency responders and heavy freight to bypass downtown Minot, alleviating congestion.
The project includes work on two connectors: the Outer Connector, which runs from US Highway 2/52 to US Highway 83 along County Roads 14 and 16, and the Inner Connector, running from US Highway 2/52 to County Road 14 along 30th Street SW.
Senator Hoeven stated, “As Minot and North Dakota continue to grow, this funding provides the city with the resources to develop a transportation system that keeps up with demand. It enables the planning and design of key road connections that will improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and support future development. These alternative routes will be vital links to help keep Minot—and the region—moving forward.”
Earlier this year, Senator Hoeven led a delegation in sending a letter supporting the City of Minot and Ward County’s project application.
