The Williams County Vector Control District (WCVCD) has announced plans to conduct aerial adulticide treatments in the Williston area from July 12 to July 13, 2025. The targeted areas include Spray Block 8, which is scheduled for a buffer spray treatment on July 12, and the Williston Research Extension Center, with treatments planned between July 12 and July 13. These operations are set to take place near sunset, weather permitting.
Residents are advised to take precautions against mosquito bites during dusk to dawn hours in the summer months. Recommendations include wearing long sleeve, tight-knit shirts and long pants, reducing time spent outdoors during these times, and using mosquito repellents like DEET, Picardin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus. Additionally, residents can help control mosquito populations by eliminating standing water on their properties.
The product used for these treatments is Imperium, which has been approved for residential use by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
