The McLean County Sheriff's Office is currently looking for a law enforcement professional to fill the role of School Resource Officer (SRO) for the Washburn Public School District. This position will also serve as a Patrol Deputy during school breaks or as needed by the department. The role aims to ensure safety within schools and maintain public security in the community.
As an SRO, responsibilities include providing law enforcement presence on school campuses, building relationships with students and staff, educating on safety topics, responding to incidents on school property, and collaborating with administrators on safety protocols.
In the capacity of a Patrol Deputy, duties involve enforcing laws, responding to service calls, conducting traffic enforcement, investigating crimes, and preparing reports.
Applications are open until 4:00 P.M. on August 6, 2025. Preference will be given to applicants who are P.O.S.T certified with prior experience. The starting salary ranges from $48,758.59 to $57,752.76 annually based on experience. Benefits include fully paid health insurance and contributions to a retirement program.
