Wood chips will soon be available for free at two grass collection sites in Bismarck. The designated locations are Santa Fe Ave & 12th St (Cottonwood Park parking lot) and the Ash Coulee Water Tower.

The Forestry Division will deposit wood chips produced by tree work they perform at these sites for local homeowners' use. Piles will be replenished based on workload and location. These wood chips are not intended for commercial use; commercial contractors can collect free single grind wood chips from the landfill. Bismarck residents also have the option to pick up free single grind wood chips at the landfill. Residents should bring a shovel to load their own wood chips.

Tree branches and twigs are still not accepted at grass collection sites and should be disposed of at the landfill.
