The Morton County Weed Department, in collaboration with the Grant County Weed Department, is organizing a Leafy Spurge Beetle Collection Day. This event will take place at the Boy Scout Camp at Lake Tschida on Tuesday, July 1st at 11:00 AM Central Time.

The location is about 14 miles north of Elgin or south of Glen Ullin on Highway 49. Signs will be placed along the highway to direct attendees to the correct turn-off.

Participants are advised to bring a bug net, though a limited number will be available for sale or loan. A cooler with ice packs (not loose ice) is recommended for safe beetle transport. Lunch and refreshments will be provided for all attendees.

Representatives from NDSU Extension will also be present to test water samples. Attendees who wish to have their stock dam or tank water evaluated for livestock safety should bring a sample with them.

For further information, individuals can contact Cody, Morton County Weed Officer, at 701-391-8006 or Merlin, Grant County Weed Officer, at 701-584-3204.
