Due to the ongoing phases of the North Dakota Department of Transportation's Memorial Highway Reconstruction Project, changes have been announced for the staging and viewing areas of the 2025 Mandan 4th of July Parade. This year, parade staging will occur along West Memorial Highway from Third St. SE to Mandan Ave., which means there will be no public viewing along Memorial Highway. Spectators are advised to find spots along Main Street and other designated public access areas.
The reconstruction project is expected to span primarily throughout 2025 and 2026. More information about the project schedule and construction map is available at cityofmandan.com/mhp.
To accommodate these changes, West Memorial Highway from Third St SE to Mandan Ave will close at 6 a.m. on Friday, July 4, remaining closed for the duration of the parade. Businesses in this area will remain accessible. Spectators and attendees of Mandan Rodeo Days should plan ahead due to anticipated slower traffic when entering Mandan via Memorial Highway. Alternate routes are recommended for timely arrival at the festivities.
"As we prepare for another unforgettable Independence Day celebration in Mandan, I want to thank our residents, businesses and visitors for their flexibility and understanding as we navigate changes brought on by the Memorial Highway Reconstruction project," says Mandan Mayor Jim Froelich. "This vital infrastructure investment will improve safety and connectivity for decades to come." He added that while this year's parade staging shift may temporarily impact some traditions, "it’s important to remember the spirit of the 4th of July in Mandan remains as strong as ever." He encourages everyone "to plan ahead and join us for a safe and festive day."
