Gov. Kelly Armstrong and First Lady Kjersti Armstrong have announced the selection of St. Mary's Central High School Wind Orchestra from Bismarck and Davies High School Vivace choir from Fargo as the Governor’s Official State Band/Orchestra Program and Choral Program for the 2025-2026 school year.

"Congratulations to these talented musicians from St. Mary’s Central High School and Davies High School whose impressive performances bring joy and instill pride in their schools and communities," said Gov. Armstrong. "They represent their schools, communities, and our state with distinction through their dedication to their craft and commitment to excellence."

The St. Mary’s Central High School Wind Orchestra consists of 55 top instrumentalists in grades 9-12 under the direction of Anne Chambers. The members are involved in various musical ensembles and often volunteer at nursing homes, local businesses, and community events. Many students have been selected by audition for prestigious music festivals such as the Northwest International Festival of Music in Minot.

The Davies High School Vivace choir is led by Carly Grandner McDougall with 24 students in grades 10-12. The choir regularly achieves superior rankings at contests and festivals, including being featured at the Minnesota State University Moorhead Choral Festival this year.

Both groups were chosen based on musical talent, achievement, and community involvement from applications submitted statewide. They may perform at official state functions throughout the year.
