Senator John Hoeven, who serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee and chairs the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee, commented after the Senate moved forward with a short-term continuing resolution (CR) to fund the federal government through January 30. The agreement also includes three of the twelve full-year appropriations bills, one of which is the Agriculture Appropriations bill.
Hoeven was involved in negotiating this legislative package. The measure passed a significant procedural vote and is now advancing in the Senate.
In his statement, Hoeven said, “We worked to negotiate a path forward to reopen the government with a short-term CR through January 30 and passage of three of the full-year appropriations bills. These three bills, including the Agriculture Appropriations bill, will help get us back to regular order. This shutdown has gone on for far too long. Let’s get this CR approved so we can get back to the work of the people, and pass the remaining appropriations bills to fund our priorities while finding savings.”
The short-term funding measure aims to end an ongoing government shutdown and provide time for lawmakers to finalize decisions on all outstanding spending legislation.
