Senator John Hoeven from North Dakota addressed the Senate to honor law enforcement officers nationwide. His remarks followed the Senate's unanimous approval of a resolution he introduced alongside Senators Chuck Grassley and Dick Durbin. The resolution designates May 12 through 17 as National Police Week and reaffirms the Senate's support for law enforcement.

Hoeven stated, "We can never fully repay our police officers for such enormous sacrifices, but we can continue to show respect for our law enforcement, honor those we’ve lost and recognize the sacrifices of their families and loved ones."

He added that National Police Week offers an opportunity to collectively honor peace officers who risk their lives in service to communities. The resolution was supported by numerous senators, including Lindsey Graham, Angus King, Ashley Moody, Catherine Cortez Masto, Susan Collins, Ben Ray Lujan, Tim Sheehy, Richard Blumenthal, John Kennedy, Christopher Coons, Tim Scott, Ruben Gallego, Jim Risch, Peter Welch, Mitch McConnell, Tim Kaine, Tommy Tuberville, Amy Klobuchar, Rand Paul, Raphael Warnock, Mike Crapo and many others.

The full text of the resolution is available online.
