As part of the ongoing Memorial Highway reconstruction project, significant traffic changes are set to occur in southeast Mandan this month. According to the North Dakota Department of Transportation, 19th Street SE will reopen to traffic on Tuesday, May 13. This reopening restores a key east-west route in the area.
However, starting Thursday, May 15, there will be a temporary closure of 21st Street SE between Shoal Loop SE and 46th Ave SE. This closure is necessary for storm sewer installation and is expected to last approximately one month. During this period, Shoal Loop SE will remain open.
Drivers are encouraged to use 19th Street SE or other alternate routes to avoid delays and maintain traffic flow. These adjustments are part of phased infrastructure improvements that support the larger Memorial Highway drainage and roadway reconstruction effort.
Motorists are advised to follow posted detour signs, reduce speed, and exercise caution in construction zones. Pedestrians should also stay clear of active work zones for their safety and that of construction crews.
"We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as this important work continues," stated a spokesperson from the North Dakota Department of Transportation.
