The McLean County Sheriff's Office is currently recruiting candidates for the role of Jailer/Dispatcher I at the White Shield Detention Center. The position involves responsibilities in both jail operations and emergency dispatch services. Successful applicants will manage inmate safety and security while handling incoming calls and coordinating law enforcement dispatch.

Responsibilities include supervising inmates, performing intake, booking, release procedures, responding to emergency calls, maintaining records, and providing customer service to the public and law enforcement personnel.

Applicants are required to have a high school diploma or equivalent. Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask under pressure are essential. While previous experience in law enforcement or corrections is preferred, it is not mandatory.

Applications will be accepted until 4:00 PM on May 21, 2025. Preference will be given to those with prior experience. The starting salary ranges from $45,881.24 to $49,505.21 annually, with opportunities for overtime. A comprehensive benefits package includes fully paid health insurance, participation in the North Dakota Public Employees Retirement System retirement program, paid leave, and professional development opportunities.
