Senator John Hoeven, who chairs the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee and serves as a senior member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, commented on a new trade agreement between the United States and the United Kingdom. The announcement was made by the Trump administration.

Hoeven emphasized that "foreign countries have long put up excessive tariffs and other barriers that close off their markets, while expecting easy access to U.S. consumers." He stated that U.S. producers require equitable conditions in international markets. According to Hoeven, this trade deal represents significant progress towards achieving fair treatment for American farmers and ranchers.

The agreement is expected to create $5 billion in export opportunities for the United States, including nearly $1 billion for agricultural products such as ethanol and beef. Hoeven described this development as "a good start" and expressed optimism about future opportunities as negotiations continue.
