U.S. Senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer have announced the nomination of Nicholas W. Chase by the Trump administration to serve as United States Attorney for the District of North Dakota. The senators had earlier recommended Chase for this position.

Chase is currently a North Dakota District Court Judge for the East Central Judicial District, a role he was appointed to by Governor Doug Burgum. His experience includes 20 years in the U.S. Attorney’s office for the District of North Dakota, where he served as Acting U.S. Attorney and First Assistant U.S. Attorney. A native of North Dakota, Chase has also worked in private practice and served as a federal judicial law clerk.

In their joint statement, Senators Hoeven and Cramer expressed their support: “We appreciate the Trump administration nominating Nick to be the U.S. Attorney for North Dakota, and will work to advance his confirmation as quickly as possible." They highlighted his dedication to public service and justice in North Dakota, noting his "proven record of building cooperation among federal, state, tribal, and local law enforcement agencies."

The senators emphasized Chase's contributions in dismantling drug smuggling networks and prosecuting major fraud and trafficking cases, describing him as having "a reputation rooted in integrity and a deep commitment to public safety." They look forward to collaborating with him in his new role to enhance community safety across North Dakota.
