Morton County has announced the installation of a new community food pantry at the Morton County Courthouse, thanks to the efforts of the Falling Stars 4-H group. This pantry is located on the northwest corner of the courthouse grounds and aims to assist individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.

The initiative, led by youth from the 4-H group, involves not only constructing but also managing the pantry. The members will handle restocking, track donations, and ensure it remains accessible. The pantry will offer non-perishable items such as canned goods and pasta. A soft launch has begun with initial donations being organized by 4-H volunteers this week.

“We’re incredibly proud to support this meaningful project,” stated Wendy Bent, Morton County Director of Human Resources. “The generosity and leadership shown by the Falling Stars 4-H group is inspiring, and this pantry will be a valuable resource for our community. It’s a reminder that small acts of kindness can make a big difference.”

County employees are among those supporting this effort by helping stock the pantry before its public opening. Both non-perishable food items and monetary donations are encouraged to keep it operational.

The 4-H group will maintain records of donations and distributions to monitor its impact. This collaboration between youth and local government exemplifies community cooperation—neighbors assisting neighbors.
