Bismarck State College (BSC) and North Dakota State University (NDSU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on nursing education and workforce development. This partnership aims to facilitate credit transfers for students earning an Associate of Science (AS) or Associate of Arts (AA) degree at BSC to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at NDSU.

The MOU establishes a framework focusing on student advising, recruitment, and academic program alignment. The collaboration seeks to boost enrollment in pre-nursing and nursing programs by supporting student retention and graduation rates. This effort addresses the need for qualified nursing professionals in North Dakota.

Students completing AS or AA degrees at BSC can transfer credits smoothly to NDSU's BSN program, ensuring a seamless transition. Both institutions will offer consistent advising from admission through graduation. By addressing the state's nursing workforce needs, this initiative contributes to developing a robust healthcare system in North Dakota.

"This collaboration with NDSU will provide our students with greater opportunities to pursue nursing degrees and contribute to the healthcare workforce,” said Dan Leingang, BSC Interim President. “We look forward to working together to support our students' success and address the critical need for nursing professionals."

NDSU President David Cook stated, "We are excited to partner with Bismarck State College to enhance nursing education and workforce development in our state. Collaboration among institutions within the North Dakota University System is crucial to best serve our students and meet the needs of our state. This MOU signifies our commitment to providing high-quality education and meeting the healthcare needs of our communities."

The agreement takes effect immediately and will be reviewed periodically for alignment with both institutions' goals.
