U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer recently visited the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, where he met with two North Dakota Midshipmen, Loren Steinberg and Rebecca Van Vleet. These Midshipmen were nominated by Cramer to attend the Naval Academy, continuing a tradition of nominating North Dakotans for entry into five service academies, where they receive a top-tier education and commence their service in the Armed Services.

Senator Cramer expressed his appreciation for the Midshipmen during a breakfast meeting, stating, “What a privilege to have breakfast this morning with North Dakota Midshipmen Loren Steinberg and Rebecca Van Vleet and the Deputy Commandant of Midshipmen, Captain David S. Forman.” He commended their efforts, adding, “They make North Dakota proud with their hard work, service, and dedication."

Midshipman Steinberg also took the opportunity to provide Senator Cramer with a tour of the Naval Academy's Yard. Following the tour, Cramer met with U.S. Naval Academy Superintendent Vice Admiral Yvette M. Davids to discuss the institution’s mission in preparing future Navy leaders.

The United States Naval Academy, alongside other service academies, is recognized for its rigorous educational programs that attract committed individuals from North Dakota and beyond. These academies combine military and civilian expertise to prepare their students for leadership roles in the Armed Services.
